Building a Bio-Based Future: Key Insights from the Delta Region Blueprint
March 05, 2025
The Delta Region Blueprint for a Circular Bio-based Economy is now available, offering a comprehensive strategy to advance the region’s transition toward sustainability. Developed in collaboration with over 40 stakeholders from Brabant and Zeeland, this blueprint outlines a shared vision, strategic objectives, and actionable steps to position the region as a key player in the bio-based economy. By leveraging its industrial landscape, agricultural strengths, and port infrastructure, the Delta Region is uniquely positioned to scale up circular bio-based innovations and foster cross-border cooperation with Belgium.
Key focus areas of the blueprint include strengthening interregional collaboration, facilitating innovation and scale-up, and enhancing market demand for bio-based materials. The document highlights the importance of harmonizing policies, improving funding opportunities, and increasing private sector adoption of bio-based solutions. By addressing these critical areas, the blueprint provides a roadmap for businesses, policymakers, and research institutions to work together in transforming the region’s economy.

To build on the insights from the blueprint, Holland Circular Hotspot is hosting a webinar on March 17, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss the next steps for implementation. The event will feature contributions from regional actors, as well as representatives from the BioBased Circular Growth Fund and the European Commission’s DG S Research & Innovation Biobased Circular. Join us to explore how the Delta Region can strengthen its role in Europe’s circular bio-based transition and identify collaborative opportunities for future development.
