The Global Climate Action Summit (GCAS) is organized by the Governor of California, Jerry Brown. The State Secretary for Infrastructure and Water Management, Stientje van Veldhoven, takes part from the Netherlands. The Secretary of State’s visit serves to bring Dutch knowledge and expertise in the area of climate adaptation, circular economy and smart & sustainable mobility to the attention of governments and the business community in and around the conference. Mayor Aboutaleb (Municipality of Rotterdam) will also visit the summit.

Dutch organizations that are interested in developments and want to make relevant contacts in California on these themes are invited to join the delegation. The working visit does not include a complete business program, but consists of the following components:

  • Network meeting with Dutch delegation and local partners;
    Indication of your company profile in the Dutch delegation booklet;
  • 3 Dutch events on circular economy (foodwaste and packaging), sustainable mobility (smart & e-mobility) and climate adaptation (water & resiliency);
  • In addition, hundreds of affiliate events are organized throughout the week by other authorities, companies and knowledge institutions where companies from the Dutch delegation can take part on their own initiative.

During the specific CE event we want to give a spotlight to Dutch leaders who are interested in cooperation with California and that fit the theme. The circular economy component will mainly focus on creative solutions for food waste and plastic packaging.
