Innovating the Plastics Value Chain

EIT Climate-KIC, Amsterdam | 7th of February 2020

On 7 February 2020 EIT Climate-KIC will bring together a select number of industries, start-ups, academia, and government representatives to co-design solutions to increase plastics circularity.

If current global plastic consumption trends continue, greenhouse gas emissions associated to plastics production could reach 15 to 20% of the global carbon budget by 2050. Mitigating and avoiding potential CO2 emissions from plastics requires up-stream solutions that dematerialise the demand for plastics, and down-streams solutions that increase plastics circularity.

From new business models that eliminate the need of plastics, through to cutting edge chemical recycling technologies, EIT Climate-KIC is actively building up a portfolio of start-ups developing disruptive technologies all along the plastics value chain.

During this conference you are invited to co-design the steps needed to broaden our community to work on systems innovation along the plastic value chain. Practical innovative solutions will be shown at the Plastics Market place: Feel, touch and experience climate innovation!
