Asia Pacific Circular Hotspot 2026 Showcases Regional Circular Economy Leadership

October 12, 2026

Great job, Asia Pacific Circular Hotspot 2026! You were fantastic!

Every Circular Hotspot is unique. And over more than a decade of Hotspots, we have never had an event that brought the circular economy so close to climate, First Nations, and nature as the Asia Pacific Circular Hotspot in Sydney (30 September–2 October 2026)

This Hotspot was the first ever linked to a Pre-COP event and one of the main outcomes of the Hotspot was a communique proposing concrete targets for COP31 leaders to strengthen their commitments to the circular economy to further advance decarbonisation.

We were happy to see that it was truly a Circular by Design event — and that philosophy was visible everywhere, including in the catering, with vegan/vegetarian food only and rescued food, showing that circularity is not just something Hotspot events talk about.

We loved seeing how this event was brought together through collaboration — something Hotspot events want to emphasize — and how the event was designed to encourage collaboration among countries.

We deeply appreciated that the event gave a voice to, and encouraged commitment to support, First Nations and Pacific Island communities, who are among those most affected by rising water levels, resource dependency and limited infrastructure to advance waste management and circular economy practices.

On behalf of Circular Hotspot, the organization coordinating global Circular Hotspot events, we congratulate Circular Australia and all their co-organizers for strong leadership, showing different angles of an actionable circular economy and showcasing the power of Circular Hotspot events.
