CooLoo develops and produces products and finishings for interiors, furniture, acoustic solutions, and industrial applications based on innovative coating technologies. The total freedom of form that these techniques offer and the use of recycled materials lead to unique and beautiful circular products designed within the sustainable philosophy of CooLoo.
Waste materials from leather, cork, denim, and even banknotes are re-used to create unique and innovative art and design solutions. Uniquely, based on more than 20 years of research and development, CooLoo proves how stylish, luxurious, and sustainable products can be created with an Endless Life.

Aesthetic solutions and high-end design
The CooLoo concept originated from the idea that interiors and furniture are still produced traditionally and inefficiently, resulting in many waste storms and restrictions. The circular coatings combine the principles of the circular economy with the design philosophy and production techniques of CooLoo. Coatings made from consumer and industrial waste are used in high-quality interior and furniture solutions, ideally suited for repair, refurbishment, and recycling. Thus, bringing sustainability and high-end design together in a future-proof concept.

CooLoo’s story
When two ideas meet and evolve into something bigger. Inventor and maker Leo Schraven and sustainable entrepreneur Ricco Fiorito started this project to change the way we look at, shape, and use products and materials. Together, they created the most circular and sustainable technologies for product finishings, with the high-end application of local waste materials in design furniture and custom projects.
In 2018 CooLoo launched the CooLLeather and CooLCork coatings, made from local leather and recycled cork, at Design District in Rotterdam, earning them a Design District Award for Best Product invitation the Masterly during the international design fair Salone del Mobile in Milan. In addition, their innovative Ameba design, together with Hugo de Ruiter, got Good Industrial Design recognition during Ducht Design Week 2020. In September 2021, CooLoo will launch their CooLoo Circular Canopy at the Salone del Mobil 2021. Together with 14 partners internationally, show how high-end design and art can be created circularly—shaping a better world by thinking circularly.
After the successful proof of concept, CooLoo will focus on developing and improving its technologies and materials further to expand the knowledge with partners who can start producing new products and finishings from local waste materials using CooLoo’s technologies—localizing the suitable waste materials and industries to find the geographical best locations and companies.
