The platform is transparent and makes purchasing timber cheaper, reducing waste. It also offers information on the origin, quality, and sustainability of the wood. In addition to replanting FSC-approved wood, VonWood compensates for every transaction by planting additional trees to promote a positive environmental impact.
Digital Marketplace for Professional Timber
VonWood is a marketplace that connects sawmills and clients who are in need of timber. The company was created by a group of friends who saw a gap in the market for an easy-to-use platform that could connect clients with sawmills. With a diverse team of professionals, they were able to launch the platform and attract investors and strategic partners who have provided €2.7 million in funding.
The marketplace is currently live and both clients and sawmills are being onboarded quickly. The business is growing rapidly and is currently expanding in the Netherlands, but plans to expand further into the rest of Europe and the UK. VonWood is expanding in both directions of the supply chain, connecting with clients who need timber and with sawmills across Europe.
The platform is designed to make it easy for clients to find the timber they need, and for sawmills to connect with new clients. Cut costs, not trees
One of VonWood’s initiatives to replant trees beyond the FSC and PEFC requirements has led to plant 1069 trees in the second half of 2022 (and many more to follow). Which equates to over 25.750 kilograms of Co2 compensated and over 15 jobs created in the first 6 months of operation.
