From Monday 1 February to Saturday 6 February 2021, the Netherlands is completely devoted to the circular economy.

Circular front runners organise all kinds of events to include other professionals in the circular economy.

Theme of this anniversary edition is System Change

Throughout the country, good examples are given a stage, front runners meet and starters are provided with concrete tools to get started themselves.

Monday February 1

How an indian straw ends-up as a nutrient 10:00 – 11:00 | online

ECO Wheat – Straws B.V. product is an up-cycled agricultural waste that enables to have a reliable and transparent value chain.

Sean Colombon and Bas Latten will share knowledge on the plastic issue in Europe, Global agricultural waste and the current state of oceans.

 

Tuesday February 2

Livecast: Our planet, our business 9:30 – 11:00 | online

This livecast will start with a discussion between Dr. Giuseppe Feola, Associate Professor of Social Change for Sustainability in the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University and Marc de Witt (strategic alliances, Circle Economy) on their vision on which reset is needed for real change.

Circle Economy will bring out its global GAP report in January, in which they monitor the global progress in bridging the circularity gap. In this event, Marc de Witt will give an inside in the key leverages for change. Besides, he will explain how circularity can contribute to fight global warming.

After presenting these finding, a debate about how to take leadership in the shift towards a circular economy and what dilemma’s are to be faced, will be held.

Expo Rethinking Plastic 11:00 – 18:00 | Eindhoven

Plastic is considered a cheap material, which is why we easily throw it away. It is about time to look at plastic differently and deal with it differently.

Yksi Expo will show an extensive program on the theme of plastic in all its aspects.

Financing the Circular Economy 09:00 – 10:00 | online

As the Covid-19 did hit us unexpectedly, the crisis exposed many risks for the financial sector facilitating our economy. Therefore, thinking differently about long-term value creation, resilient businesses, investment strategies and re-designing business practices has become more important than ever before.

Ellen MacArthur Foundation recently published a report on how to finance the circular economy establishing three major strategies: investing, divesting and engagement. In a programme presented by Circl, these strategies will be explored by sharing knowledge, best practices and get updated as to how far we are yet in the transformation of the financial system.

During this event students from the Rotterdam University together with Blue City and other partners in the fields will share the insights acquired in the past year.

Expert session: Impact Professional Fast Track 10:30 – 11:30 | online
