Opportunities for Dutch companies

Belgium is a leader in areas such as recycling issues and renewable plastics. Various investments are aimed at strengthening the circular economy in the three regions. For example:

  • Investment of € 700 million from industry and trade to construct three new recycling centers for plastic waste. The aim is to be able to recycle 65% of household waste by 2023.
  • Investment of €35 million from the federal government for new technologies and value chains, such as innovative recycling techniques (including for complex products), the use of secondary or renewable raw materials, or the collection of waste.
  • Investment between now and 2050 of €30 billion from the Brussels-Capital Region to triple the renovation rate.
