Cancelled: Doing Business in Chile

October 24, 2019

As announced on the 5th of November, due to recent developments in the situation in Chile the COP will now take place in Spain. This greatly impacts the purpose of the economical mission given its interconnection with the several events and the audience expected in Chile during the days of the COP. For this reason, the mission has been cancelled.

Nonetheless, the Dutch embassy Chile, the ministries involved, RVO, NWP, and HCH will continue to work on creating a strong path for a possible mission in the future. Chile has been one of Latin America’s fastest-growing economies, showing steady growth in recent decades. Its openness to global trade and investment, transparent regulatory environment, and a strong rule of law continue to provide a solid basis for economic dynamism. The Netherlands is ranked as the 9th most important trading partner of Chile, with a total trade of over 1.5 billion USD. Promising industries for Dutch businesses in Chile consist of port development & infrastructure (incl. logistics and renewable energy), agriculture & food, water management & technology, and the mining sector, where the Chilean government increasingly focusses on sustainability and modernisation.
