Raw material stocks are under pressure worldwide. Annual global raw material extraction grows by an average of 4%. Both the Dutch and the European economies are highly dependent on the import of raw materials. Research found that 80% of surveyed Dutch manufacturing companies foresee problems with critical materials. Current supply chains are complex and vulnerable for shortages in crisis. Circular Economy strategies have the potential to offer solutions: circular design, sharing services and increase repair, re-use and remanufacturing.
