Cooloo – Rethinking life cycles with circular materials
Cooloo transforms local waste into sustainable furniture, interiors, and construction materials for flooring and facades with its Endless Life® technology. By combining residuals from fibers like leather, cork, jeans and olive pits, minerals such as limestone and bricks or even metals like copper, iron and aluminium, with bio-based binders, Cooloo creates circular materials.
These materials can be sprayed or applied onto any surface, shape or material. Turning waste into visible, tactile surfaces, enabling a more sustainable future without compromising on aesthetics.

"With a long history in interior design, Cooloo started changing this wasteful industry by introducing application technologies to create upholstery, finishes, and products. We transform local waste into sprayable materials that can cover any shape or surface."
Leo Schraven - CEO Cooloo
Aesthetic solutions and high-end design
Just spray it… But why? Carpeting and upholstery are beautiful crafts with a rich history. Unfortunately, they are complex, generate large amounts of waste and are far from sustainable.
That is why Cooloo has developed Endless Life®, an out-of-the box technology enabling creation, repair and refurbishment of upholstery and finishes in an ecological and economical way. This patented technology results in a circular, effective and faster way of production. And moving beyond interior design to implement these concepts, materials and solutions into other industries around the world.
Cooloo’s Materials
Fiber Series
Residual fibers can be upscaled into high upholstery and finishes for hard, soft and acoustic surfaces. The multi-awarded ‘Fiber Series’ are made from recycled fibers like textile, cork, leather, olive and more. Learn more!
Stone Series
For hard and sturdy surfaces, Cooloo’s recycled mineral-based materials are the circular and sustainable way to go. These materials can be applied to basically every surface to create concrete or stone-like looks. Their waterproof, UV-resistant, slightly flexible, and crack-bridging properties make this material very versatile and applicable for floors, stairs, walls, and facades. Learn more!
Metal Series
Originating from the metal industries, this residual material gives Cooloo technology a shiny angle. Real steel, aluminum, mining dust, and other metals can be transformed into any shape or size with our application technology. The result is lightweight metal-looking objects and shapes that don’t deplete the critical metals that we require for the sustainable transition. Learn more!
Cooloo’s story
Cooloo, founded by inventor Leo Schraven and sustainable entrepreneur Ricco Fiorito, is revolutionizing the design and construction industries by transforming local waste into high-end materials. Their Endless Life® technology enables the creation of circular furniture, interiors, and architectural elements, significantly reducing CO₂ emissions and material waste.
Notable achievements include the launch of the CoolLeather and CoolCork materials, made from recycled leather and cork, which earned a Design District Award in 2018. In collaboration with designer Hugo de Ruiter, their Ameba chair received the Good Industrial Design Award during Dutch Design Week 2020. At Salone del Mobile 2021, Cooloo showcased the Circular Canopy, highlighting the potential of sustainable design through partnerships with artists and designers.
In 2024, Cooloo was honored with the Fair Future Challenge award, receiving €100,000 to support the establishment of circular workspaces in collaboration with recycling centers and social enterprises. This initiative aims to combine waste materials, labor, and creativity to refurbish old furniture using local resources and inclusive employment practices.
Looking ahead, Cooloo is expanding its impact by partnering with international ventures to localize production using their technologies. By offering training, consulting, and access to their innovative materials and machinery, they empower partners worldwide to create sustainable products from regional waste streams.
