Exploring the social impact of circular economy in the textile and apparel value chain through a gender lens

Online | 14th of February 2023

Circular economy (CE) take-up by companies in the textiles and apparel sector has increased significantly in recent years, but we know relatively little about how current circular business models affect workers and communities.

In this OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector side event on 14 February at 14:00 – 15:00 CET, Utrecht University’s Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, Smart Green Industry and Conserve India will explore the outcomes of their most recent social impact study on the apparel value chain. The study explores the social impact of the circular strategies implemented in India, Spain and the Netherlands.

The panel will discuss critical challenges and possible ways forward to a more inclusive and circular sector.
