Tackling root causes: halting biodiversity loss through the circular economy

online | 13th of June 2022

How can we all contribute to speeding up the transition to a circular economy that leaves more room for nature to thrive?

Join the conversation regarding Sitra’s new study ‘Tackling root causes – halting biodiversity loss through the circular economy’. This study quantifies the role a circular economy can play in tackling global biodiversity loss, targeting four sectors with the largest impacts: food and agriculture, buildings and construction, fibres and textiles, and forestry and the forest industry.

Johan Rockström, Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research at the University of Potsdam, will introduce the event, outlining the planetary crises we face. Next, Tim Forslund, Specialist at the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, will share the study’s results. After that, a panel discussion will bring together perspectives from the European Commission, Ellen MacArthur Foundation and UN’s World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC).
