Dutch circular companies discover European opportunities

As part of the Dutch Circular Economy Week (1-6 February) Holland Circular Hotspot and RVO organized an event for Dutch circular companies on February 4 about the opportunities for export and international cooperation. The event especially focussed on opportunities in 3 European countries close to the Netherlands: France, Belgium and Germany. Fellow circular hotspots Institut de l’Economie Circulaire (INEC), Vlaanderen Circulair and CE hotspot Nord Rhein Westphalen joined the event to share their knowledge and insights.

Circular hotspots and embassies share insights on France, Belgium, Germany

More than 100 participants joined the kick off with an opening by Tjerk Opmeer, director international of RVO (Netherlands Enterprise Agency) , followed by an inspiring speech by Ladeja Godina Košir (Circular Change, European CE Stakeholder Platform) on the benefits and necessity of cross-border cooperation. Thijs Jasink (ALEC Electronics) took the audience on a trip to the German location of this Dutch remanufacturer of electronic car components.

Participants were informed on the renewed EU programs by advisors of the RVO (Netherlands Enterprise Agency).

Last but not least three parallel sessions were offered on France, Belgium and Germany. In each session representatives of the local Dutch Embassy with special knowledge on circular economy participated, providing helpful insights and offering  support. Experts of the circular hotspots of France, Flanders (B) and Nord Rhein Westphalen (D) reflected on the current status of Circular Economy in their region. Dutch companies Join the Pipe, SNEW and E-waste race shared their experiences in entering the markets in these countries.
