Partner Spotlight: FERAGAME Advancing Circular Solutions for PV Recycling
October 29, 2026
Based in Northern Italy, Feragame is a specialized WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) recycling company providing take-back, storage, and recycling services since 2010. As a key partner in the CLOSER Project, FERAGAME is helping drive innovation in the recycling of end-of-life (EoL) photovoltaic (PV) panels through advanced silicon recovery, AI-based sorting technologies, and material characterization strategies that support Digital Product Passport (DPP) applications.
Within CLOSER, FERAGAME contributes to:
WP2 – End-of-life PV and WEEE streamlining from B2C/B2B markets
WP3 – Electronic board refurbishment and high-value reuse of decommissioned PV systems
WP4 – Recovery and characterization of silicon-based materials from EoL PV panels
WP7 – Business use case development for traceability and sustainability solutions
WP8 – Exploitation, stakeholder engagement, and EU collaboration activities
Recent update
FERAGAME is preparing to install a new hammer mill as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance silicon recovery within the CLOSER project. This upgrade will improve material liberation during PV panel recycling, increasing the efficiency of downstream recovery processes and strengthening the recovery of valuable raw materials.
Building on previous improvements implemented through CLOSER, the new equipment will further support the development of a more resilient and circular value chain for silicon. It also highlights an important reality of innovation in recycling: meaningful progress is achieved through continuous optimization across the entire process, not through a single breakthrough.
We look forward to seeing the upgraded recycling line in operation and evaluating its impact on recovery performance in the coming months.
