Leading trade fair in India for water, sewage, solid waste, and recycling
IFAT India is the leading trade fair for water, sewage, solid waste, and recycling in South Asia, connecting professionals and decision-makers from across the region and beyond. The event serves as an important platform for exploring solutions to India’s growing water and sanitation challenges, with strong alignment to national initiatives such as the Clean India Mission.
What makes this opportunity particularly strong is the coordinated approach between key stakeholders in both countries. Building on the Memorandum of Understanding on water between the governments of the Netherlands and India, government bodies, knowledge institutes, and industry partners are working closely together to translate ambition into concrete activities and business opportunities.
The Netherlands Pavilion, supported by the Consulate General in Mumbai, and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), and organised in close cooperation by the Netherlands Water Partnership and Holland Circular Hotspot, offers a powerful platform to meet new leads, and showcase expertise.
Meet local policymakers, utility managers, operators, and industry leaders
IFAT India 2026 brings together policymakers from local and regional governments, utility managers and operators, technology providers, consulting engineers, and researchers from leading knowledge institutions. The last edition was in 2025, when the event celebrated its 12th edition, welcoming more than 560 exhibiting companies and six international pavilions, including a Netherlands Pavilion. Over the course of three days, the trade fair attracted approximately 18,000 visitors.
To strengthen the visibility of Dutch water expertise at IFAT India, The Netherlands Water Partnership and Holland Circular Hotspot will organise the Netherlands Pavilion alongside a dedicated collective programme. The programme is designed to help Dutch participants gain insight into local and regional market needs, position Dutch knowledge and expertise within the Indian water sector, and establish meaningful connections with key stakeholders across government, industry, and academia.
Dedicated collective programme at IFAT India
Participation in the collective programme costs EUR 2,800 (excluding VAT). The participation package includes:
- A dedicated pod at the Netherlands Pavilion, including a personalised branded poster
- Company content featured on the Pavilion screen
- A speaking opportunity at the Blue Stage
- Access to the network reception
- Collective matchmaking activities and business meetings
- Promotion and branding through the media channels of NWP, HCH, the Dutch Consulate-General, and IFAT
- Full organisational support, including an online kick-off meeting, on-site guidance, a WhatsApp group for programme updates, and room block hotel reservation (optional) by the Consulate General in Mumbai. Please note that hotel costs are not included in the participation package.
Please note that additional costs — such as IFAT registration fees, panel design, travel, hotel accommodation, and local transportation — are not included.
Compared to organising an individual booth at IFAT India, participation in the collective programme offers a highly cost-effective and efficient way to access the Indian market.
A special participation option (EUR 500 ex. VAT) is available for NGOs and knowledge institutes: logo placement on a shared panel and access to a shared working table. A maximum of four organisations can participate under this arrangement.
Together, these initiatives create a coherent pathway from policy alignment and pilot development to market engagement and long-term partnerships. For the Dutch water sector, India represents not only a dynamic market, but also a strategic partner where collaboration, innovation, and impact come together.
India–Netherlands Centre of Excellence on Water
At the heart of the bilateral cooperation on water is the India–Netherlands Centre of Excellence on Water, located in Delhi. This initiative—driven by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Delhi—serves as a platform to develop and implement pilot projects. The pilots are designed to demonstrate Dutch solutions in real Indian contexts, creating a bridge from innovation to scalable application.
In preparation for the delegation programme at IFAT India 2026, and to stay informed and aligned with the latest developments and activities regarding the bilaterial water cooperation, the Dutch water sector is invited to also join following the following upcoming activities from our partners:
- 7 July 2026: India Water Platform meeting, organised by Partners for Water, with a presentation from NWP’s Mirjam van Buchem on the opportunities for the water sector in India, based on the recent India market scan
- 22-26 September 2026: India Water Week in Delhi, India. For more information, contact Nishi Pant at the Dutch Embassy in Delhi.
