New publication: ‘Waste Management as a catalyst to a Circular Economy’

October 13, 2022

The latest publication of Holland Circular Hotspot, ‘Waste Management as a catalyst to a Circular Economy,’ was officially launched during the NL Trade Mission to the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (12 October 2022).

Best practices from entrepreneurs, lessons learned from public authorities and institutions active in waste management in the Netherlands, which can be applied anywhere in the world, are presented in the publication. Given that all countries share the same challenges arising from waste generation and climate change, the brochure is expected to be relevant to many countries.

It is now available to download digitally.

Sharing Best Practices

The Netherlands started with a waste management organization early and learned what was working and what was not. Therefore, by sharing its best practices, the Netherlands and other countries can collaborate to find the best solutions to manage waste and move together towards circularity.

Besides presenting more than 25 best practices, the publication also contains, among others, a toolkit for setting up an adequate waste management system. It covers, for example, regulatory aspects, organizational aspects and economic steering instruments. The publication wishes to stimulate debate and action through the presented materials, foster international collaboration, and accelerate development towards a circular economy.

Director of Holland Circular Hotspot, Freek van Eijk handed the publication to Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr Zaini Ujang, Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment and Water, Malaysia, and HRH The Regent of Pahang, Crown Prince Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, at the NL Pavilion during the IGEM event (13 October 2022).

This publication is the result of the collaboration between HCH, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, Rijkswaterstaat, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), and Milgro.
