About the Program

The Netherlands is one of the most densely populated countries in the world that is moving towards sustainable urban design. It has focused on the reusability of products, minimizing wasted energy and resources, building climate-neutral buildings, and adopting smart transportation practices. Meanwhile, Detroit is a city in transition, with development looming large and equitable investments and community building sitting centre stage.

With this background, attendees of the summit will learn how Detroit and Dutch projects are developing good sustainable urban planning and design, which are necessary to help improve the welfare of people by shaping neighbourhoods into healthier and more efficient spaces.

Ruben Dubelaar, Advisor Internal Strategy of Holland Circular Hotspot, will be one of the speakers in a session themed “Circular Economy, New Manufacturing Models, and the Impact of Design”.
