Online launch circular textiles brochure with State Secretary Stientje van Veldhoven

Holland Circular Hotspot YouTube livestream | 28th of September 2020

On Monday 28 September from 16: 00-17: 00 RVO and Holland Circular Hotspot will launch the brochure about the circular textile industry “From Linear to Circular in the Textile and Apparel Industries – Let’s make the circular shift together“. Using striking Dutch examples, the brochure shows that a circular textile industry is possible and necessary. There are already many circular possibilities in all steps of the chain that can also be applied on a large scale and internationally.

In a round table discussion, leaders and pioneers from the sector will discuss the ambition and opportunities to use more circular raw materials. State Secretary Stientje van Veldhoven of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management will be present and will indicate the importance of this subject within the Dutch government policy. She will share her vision and ambitions for the sector with the audience.

The launch will take place in Circl in Amsterdam, as part of the the Dutch Sustainable Fashion week. People can join the session via a livestream on the Holland Circular Hotspot YouTube channel. Online participants can ask questions to the table guests. Conversations will be in Dutch, English subtitles will be added later.

See below for more information about the speakers and programme.

Speakers and programme

The round table will include the following speakers:

  • State Secretary Stientje van Veldhoven
  • Douwe Jan Joustra, Circular Economy specialist (moderator)
  • Henk Hofstede, ABN-AMRO

  • Jan-Willem van Loon, CEO Studio Anneloes (fashion brand)
  • Annemieke Koster, CEO Enschede Textielstad (textile manufacturer)
  • Ellen Mensink, CO Loop-a-life (circular textile)

The three main themes that will be discussed here are:

1. What are the challenges in implementing circular business models? How do we overcome these challenges? Possible solutions? What do you need to be able to scale up?
2. What does the (distant?) future look like for the textile industry and the circular textile industry? What are the state-of-the-art trends, innovations in the field of circular textiles and fashion ? When can this be realized?
3. We are a small country with little industry. How do Dutch circular textile frontrunners distinguish themselves especially compared to other countries?
